Aikido Demonstration Seminar Meetings, Group Photos Team Russia Mulheim and Duesseldorf

From 14-24 July in the town of Duisburg, Germany, the 7th World Games of 2005 were held. Team Russia performed successfully, taking more medals than any other country. Our athletes won 62 medals total, including 30 golds, 20 silvers, and 12 bronze.

Aikido appeared as an event at the World Games for the first time in

1981 in the U.S. This year aikidoka from Russia participated in the World Games for the first time. Six aikidoka made up the delegation from Russia, 4 of whom were from Koinobori Dojo.

Within the framework of the 7th World Games on 23 July in the town of Muhlheim, not far from Duisburg, a demonstration exhibition of aikido was held.

The program included demonstrations by the head of international aikido Doshu Moriteru Ueshiba, as well as delegations from Germany, Belgium, Bulgaria, Chile, China, France, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Russia, Slovakia, Switzerland, and a number of other countries.

The sports complex where the aikido seminar and demonstrations took place was filled to capacity. Over 1600 people took part in the seminar, and over 2400 spectators enjoyed the demonstration exhibition.

Representing Russia in the aikido demonstrations were:
M. Karpova, 4th Dan (Koinobori) - S. Vystavkin, 1st Dan (Koinobori)
A. Kachan, 4th Dan (Oosinkan) - E. Stankyavichyus, 2nd Dan (Lithuanian branch of Koinobori, replacing M. Klimkov (Oosinkan))
V. Grachev, 4th Dan (Koinobori) - S. Deryuzhkin, 1st Dan (Koinobori)
