Koinobori Dojo (a non-profit organization) was founded in June 1991. It unites people
who actively practice aikido and are also interested in other areas of Japanese culture.
The technical supervisor of the dojo is shihan of AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo (Tokyo)
Shoji SEKI, 7th Dan.
The Dojo is a branch of
AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo (Tokyo, Japan). The Dojo has several branches in Russia: Moscow, Domodedovo, Stupino, Puschino,
Smolensk, Krasnogorsk, N. Novgorod. All the Russian branches of Koinobori are members of the regional divisions
Federation Aikido AIKIKAI Russia. Branches of Koinobori in Lithuania (Vilnius and Lentvaris) are members of
Federation Aikido AIKIKAI Lithuania.
The founder and head of Koinobori dojo is Marina Karpova,
5th Dan. She is also Chairperson of the Training and Attestation
Commissions of Federation Aikido AIKIKAI Russia, and a member of the Presidium of the Moscow Federation
Aikido AIKIKAI.
M. Karpova has spent numerous several-month periods of intensive aikido training abroad.
These include practice from 1991-1992 at the U.S. branch of Kumano Dzuku Dojo (Japan), and a six month session
in 1995 studying at AIKIKAI World Headquarters (AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo, Tokyo).
Since 1996, annual attestation seminars have been conducted at
Koinobori dojo under the supervision of shihan Shoji SEKI, 7th Dan, AIKIKAI World
Headquarters (AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo, Tokyo). The dojo also conducts summer camps devoted
to weapons training, as well as thematic seminars and consultations on kendo and iado.
Since 1999 Koinobori has issued an informational publication entitled "AIKIDO". In 2004 the dojo published
"World of Aikido", a collection of information on aikido AIKIKAI and of selected material from issues 1-9 of "Aikido".
At the initiative of the dojo, since 2003 an Interdojo Seminar is conducted in Moscow. The program includes a youth seminar-festival.
Instructors at the dojo regularly participate in seminars headed by leading aikido masters not only in Russia, but abroad also. A number of the instructors have spent intensive periods of training at AIKIKAI World Headquarters (AIKIKAI Hombu Dojo, Tokyo).
Representatives of Koinobori dojo participate in National and International Festivals of Aikido AIKIKAI, as well as International Festivals of Martial Arts.
